Faith and Health Promotion Association (FAHPA) came about when we became increasingly aware of the painful realities of AIDS deaths and decided that we must do something about it. We operate as non-denominational, and are a non- governmental registered charity. Faith is something that we believe in order to able to nurture the spirit of hope in difficult circumstances, reaching out to all people, regardless of their colour, gender, and age in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Europe and Africa.

In 1996, a project for orphans whose parents had died of AIDS was started in the small rural village of Chiveso in Bindura, Zimbabwe. It was pioneered by a few women who could no longer cope with the increasing numbers of HIV/AIDS deaths which were leaving many children with either only one parent or none at all.

As most of the breadwinners had been wiped out by AIDS, a co-operative was set up to find ways to meet the needs of the orphans in the village.  Women supported each other with whatever there was available. Poultry and garden projects were initiated to help to alleviate some of the problems associated with lack of food and effective nutrition amongst those living with the virus.
The need for food, education and medical support has progressively increased over the years as Zimbabwe has suffered economic crisis. Despite the immense hardship these have caused, we work tirelessly and continue to support orphans and individuals who have been left devastated by the HIV/AIDS epidemic . More than 500 children have now been cared for through the help and support of individuals and groups from the United Kingdom and Norway, particularly Ascardge School.
The programme is seeing an increase of children and grandmothers who needs basic care as well as health education. We continue working jointly with the local communities in their area who identify those who are very destitute .This includes the Headmasters of the primary school, health workers, headmen and village leaders.
We join the governments and health agencies that are working to educate and support people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in all communities in all the communities.
